Using Dev Mode in SiteVibes for Testing

Modified on Wed, 9 Jul at 1:39 PM

SiteVibes provides a Dev Mode feature that allows you to safely configure and test your implementation in a staging or development environment. This mode keeps all test data and settings completely separate from your production environment—giving you the flexibility to experiment without impacting live data.

✅ Why Use Dev Mode?

  • Safe testing environment – Test features and pixel behavior without affecting live data.

  • Separate data – All events, reviews, and user actions are isolated from production.

  • Easy transition – Once your setup is complete and verified, migrating to production is seamless.

  • Recommended workflow – We strongly recommend doing all configurations and testing in Dev Mode before going live.

? How to Use Dev Mode

  1. Enter Dev Mode
Log in to your SiteVibes account at https://app.sitevibes.com and click on Enter Dev Mode at the top of the dashboard.

  2. Go to Settings
In the left-hand menu, click Settings.

  3. Select Installation
     Under Settings, click Installation.

  4. Install the Pixel Script / API Token
Under Step 1, click Install Pixel Script and copy the Dev Mode pixel key (it will begin with dev_...).
Paste this script into the <head> of your dev or staging website.

  5. Test & Configure
You can now safely test features like reviews, loyalty, galleries, and more—knowing the data will not affect production.

  6. Migrate to Production
     Once you’re done testing:

    • Switch back to production mode.

    • Repeat the same installation and configurations using your live pixel key.

    • All settings can be easily replicated or promoted to production.

? Pro Tip

Keep your dev/staging pixel separate in your deployment scripts to avoid mixing environments by mistake.
